Symbium technology

The comfort of a backpack lies in its good balance when walking. Symbium technology consists of a jointed waistband that allows the backpack to adapt to the backpacker’s movements when walking.
The Symbium system means no more balancing effects that tire out the backpacker.

Capacity

Extendable volume: 50 L + 10 L (3051.2 in³ + 610.2 in³) extension via the bag’s top flap with adjustable height. The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardized method. we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container in order to determine the equivalent volume in liters, with a margin of error of just a few %.

Dying process

Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce this environmental impact, we have opted for mass pigmentation called “dope dye” integrating the color pigments from the initial thread manufacture. This process reduces this backpack’s CO2 emissions by 20% compared to the previous model.

How to pack a backpack

Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Store your clothing around it. A groundsheet or tent can be placed under the flap or under the bag if there isn’t room inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece at hand. Place small items for daily use (sunblock, map, glasses, etc.) in the pockets. The water bladder can be placed in the compartment provided down the back.

Why are our rain covers gray when some backpackers want them to be brightly colored?

The gray color is neutral, so it uses less dye. We also use a “bi-ton” dyeing process where only 1 thread in every 2 is dyed. This dyed yarn is also made from a bulk dyeing process which incorporates the color pigments from the yarn manufacturing phase onward.
